What we achieve with you. You may want Family life to be a safe haven

a sanctuary, where love exists. When it does not, you may be unsure what to do about it. You may be worried about the short and long term effects on the family. You may be experiencing anything from mild annoyances, irritation and concern to complete family turmoil. We at Family Wisdom are experts in the field of family, couple and individual and sibling functioning. We can understand and make sense of what goes wrong. We work as a male/female team; we have vast professional experience; we work effectively, by assessing and then working with you; together we enable change; we are proud of our client’s achievements.

What are the common issues people bring to us? Issues may be with one family member,

several members, or relationships between family members. The concern may be with family close to you or more distant, they may be ex-relatives or in-laws, or indeed just friends or ex-friends close to your family. The problem may have been going on for a long time, a short time, or changed over time. The concern may be grave or seemingly small but worrying. Some facts/ events can’t be changed but it does not mean they are insuperable. E.g.Children’s challenging behaviour – couple relationship difficulties – family communication – living with medical issues, stress, anxiety, depression or addictions and their effect on family – extended family trouble– co-parenting when separated – family integration – life challenges.

What we do You work with us. Change is achieved through co-reflection.

Stage 1: Alison and Peter familiarise ourselves with your situation. It is important we establish a good working relationship. With your input, and the aid of some questions, Alison and Peter assess your family situation. Stage 2: Next steps depend on the assessment result. Alison and Peter work in any number of different ways. They treat the underlying causes of the problems. Stage 3: After very few sessions, compared to other therapies - six sessions is a lot; it is anticipated the problems will feel like they have evaporated. As family members have been part of their solution, they cannot hang on to out-moded ways of thinking and behaving. True and lasting change results.
